Circular Economy
At Käsner Custom Wood Craft, we firmly believe in pursuing a ‘circular economy’ model in so far as possible and aspire to send no waste to landfill.
We’re making use of “Paintback” to ensure that our leftover finish, paint and the associated packaging are diverted from landfill (and waterways) and are disposed of responsibly. Timber offcuts are repurposed as cutting / serving boards, etc. Materials not suitable for this are set aside and used for various ‘scrap wood projects’ (find examples of these within our portfolio page). As a final step, these hardwood timber offcuts are bagged and made available as firewood kindling.
The waste materials (sawdust) from our timber processing (jointing, planning & thicknessing) are also bagged and made available for sale. We've managed to source some really cool recycled (and biodegradable) hessian sacks. Previously used to import green coffee beans, we're using these for our sawdust and firewood (kindling) sales. Sawdust is mostly from our planning machines and is available in 'medium' and 'large' bags at $10 and $15 respectively. Bags of hardwood offcuts (ideal as fire starters) are available for $15. Return your coffee sack for a free refill (sawdust) or another bag of kindling for $10.
We’ve also recently joined the ASPIRE business community. Being a part of the ASPIRE community means joining forces with 500+ businesses who are striving towards creating a Circular Economy. ASPIRE provides a platform to save costs on waste disposal, divert materials from landfill, create new supply chains and more.

We haven’t yet come up with a solution for abrasives (sandpaper and the like) so if you have any good ideas, we’d love to hear from you.
